The dangers of haircuts

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

As anyone who knows me well will tell you, having my haircut is one of the most important events in my life. Really. If it’s done badly, or not quite in the style I am happy with, I’ll go around being paranoid and moaning to people for weeks until it has grown back to the stage where I can cut it again.

To try and help against problems occuring, everytime my hair is in a style I like, I take photos of myself - which I can then take into the hairdressers next time - thus, no matter what language they can (or can’t) speak - as long as they are not blind (which you kinda would hope with them being a professional hairstylist) - then they should know what I want.

Unfortunately it’s not always quite so simple though, with a lot of stylists thinking “they know best” and trying something a bit different - which of course I am never happy with, which then starts the whole month of paranoia off again.

So this week was once again “cutting time” and indeed my first cut since I arrived in Taiwan - meaning I now had the problem of not being able to say anything at all to the stylist and only had my pictures to go on.

So a quick sit down in the chair at Charlie.G.A and 20 minutes later she was done - and by god - she was a genius! I’ve never been so happy with a cut and will now be using these new photos as my guide :)

My haircut

Of course the fun and games weren’t over then…

I was so happy with the result, that I asked the stylist for her card, so as to make sure I could have her cut my hair next time - a pretty usual thing to do I would think.

Well apparently not - this sent Ting-Ying into a rage - demanding to know why I wanted her card and not believing it wasn’t so I would go back to ask her out … haha … she was very cute for sure, but no, I don’t think so.

Someone else is feeling a little insecure perhaps :p

On a completely unrelated note - the more geeky readers might notice the links to pages keep changing all the time. This is because I can’t decide which format I want them in - bg.com/year/month/day/post or bg.com/category/post. I did briefly switch it around last night to the category format (which is apparently better for SEO) - however, after thinking about it, I don’t really care about SEO - this is just supposed to be a blog of my life, thus it makes more sense to keep the dates in - thus I changed it all back …. wow, what a waste of a few hours turmoil. Pah!

Damn it’s got cold in my room, think it might be time to invest in a portable heater … brrrrr!

Aren’t you lucky!

Two blog postings in as many days - (foreign accent) “why ambassador, with these entries you are really spoiling us….” (/foreign accent)

These aren’t long, but I just felt it was quite interesting… firstly, I finally got my hair cut :) hurrah! it had got way too long.

Not so interesting in itself I suppose, but for once, I am actually amazed at the skill of the hairdresser…. i shall explain…

But first, look at this photo:

[IMG=837]

So that was me (duh!) taken almost four months ago. I particularly liked the style, so took the photo to remind me that i don’t always look awful … lol ….

anyway, I went to “Family Mart” this morning with that photo on my memory card and got it printed from the photo machine (40 yen) - and then went with Shiho to the 980yen hairdressers (not expecting too much).

So 980yen is like £4.90 - in the UK, this would get you a student cut at the most, but this place was an actual salon with professional looking people!

So I go in, wait my turn, and give the woman the photo.

30 minutes later, she is finished - and I look like this….

THE SAME!?! WOW! That’s awesome! I couldn’t believe it, for the first time ever I can walk out a hair salon and not need to wait the obligatory 3 weeks for it finally grow to the correct length! :) In honour of her great skill, I decided it only fair to pay her double - which was still only £10…. hurrah!

Oh and my second piece of news, well not news as such - but i just think it’s hilarious and needs to be kept in my logs forever.

Seiko met up with one of her friends the other night, and was told to pass on the message …..

“Tell Ben he’s welcome to me anytime”

Hahaha…. maybe i’m just odd, but this to me sounds hilarious - such a polite way of being a slut :)
Oh and before anyone emails me asking - NO! :p

i seriously need to get a haircut :(

Not cause it’s too long or anything (it isnt very long at all) but it just feels so nasty on my skin. I’ve always had that complaint :(
Well today, what can be said, after the action packed yesterday, it was gonna be hard to beat that, and indeed it was, today was one of the most BORING days i have ever had :(
All i seem to have done each minute it constantly check my email or read the forums over and over again. I crave for more inetfx mail :(
One thing i did get more done with was oliver computer (remember i said i was doing it for the nokia), although i couln’t complete it as he didn’t give me his graphics card drivers.

So, lunch was a mserable affair sat in the network office, then to the cafe for an extra hour lunch where i had two slices of toast :) before back again to bore myself stupid
ANyway, due to Cisco being yesterday (although i didn’t go) i decided to eat at my nans, which was actually really good as i ain’t been around there for a wednesday lunch since about november last year!!! As usual, grandad was playing the fool, although it was actually quite amusing.

One thing which was funny though: he has problems with his lungs (i think) which means he cannot eat a lot of salt. Now grandad was never one to follow orders, so shakes loads of it on any and i mean ANY meal. Of course this is bad for him, but he just don’t care.

Now, the funny thing is…. the salt cellar has been blocked for ages :D but he just hasn’t noticed so happily shakes away, meaning he will eat his food  hehehehehe….

So i guess you could say i quite liked it around there, and when i got home there was even more good news. Cause i got a barclaycard, they have sent me this little free organiser :) and if i refer someone, i get a £10 m+s voucher… Mrs M… ? :D
So, the france portugal match eh? very controversual ending, although you can see it was a handball, man, when france won they kept like showing replays of the match… sod that! i want to see the portugese fans attacking the linesman :D
Oh, and tomorrow HMV have this massive sale on, the Godfather Trilogy is down from £45 to £5 so i am sending Tom up early to try and buy it for me :) hehehe

Well, now i must be off to enter my clients details into my new databank, so i can show it off tomorrow…. woop woop!
